06/27/2009 - It turned out to be a beautiful day for the KOH
Tournament on Saturday. The second grade boys Gold team came up just
a little short in the finale game loosing a 6 to 5 decision to a
very skilled, aggressive and physical Bay Shore squad. It was a long
day for the boys who played in 4 games with in 5 hours. Trailing
Garden City in the first game 5 to 2 at the half, the kids put on an
incredible comeback to earn a tie (8-8) at the finale seconds of the
game. The team rolled through the next two games with wins over
Smithtown and Syosset. Our boys came a long way since the beginning
of the season and we are very proud of them all. They showed true
grit in the game against Bay Shore and refused to give up. The boys
had to come from behind in this game as well. Going down early 2 to
0 and tying it 2 to 2 at the half. Trailing again in the second
half, the boys came back again and even took the lead. The lead
would exchange hands a few times and we saw frustration and
disbelief building on the Bay Shore sidelines. It was a nail biting
nerve racking game, but a very exciting game to be part of and to
watch. It came down to who had the fresher legs. Our boys just ran
out of gas. I am incredibly proud of our boys who hung in there and
never gave up. They were taking body checks all game long and being
hacked as well. They never complained or got frustrated or gave up.
They just kept playing their game and fighting. They are the true
tournament winners in my book. Congratulations to the golden boys.
06/07/2009 - Another victory today for the Gold Boys Lax
second grade team. The team won today beating Northport 12 to 4. The
Boys Gold team rolled to an undefeated season with a record of 6 –
0. The offense racked up 94 goals on the season while the defense
only allowed 21 goals. A very impressive stat, even at the second
grade level. The kids grew a lot over the season as their confidence
increased each week. Confidence comes from being prepared. I would
like to thank the kids for their hard work all year. I want to thank
the other coaches for their assistance and knowledge. I would like
to thank the parents for keeping the kids focused on the sport, and
being supportive of the team and to the coaching staff. Thank you to
the board for allowing us to play and coach this sport. The future
is very bright and the Hills are a live. Thank you all, Coach Bill.
05/31/2009 - The second grade Gold boys Lax team cruised to
another victory toady defeating Northport, 12 to 3.
05/16/09 - The Boys (Gold) second grade team rolled on again
today with another impressive victory. We defeated West Islip 10-5.
We were missing a few players, but it didn't seem to slow us down
much. They played a great game with good passes and good shot
selection. The defense was strong once again and we got very good
goal keeping with two goalies who have not played the position this
season. We were very proud of their play.
05/10/2009 - The Boys second grade (Gold)
Lacrosse team won it's third straight game today defeating a pretty
good Harborfields team by the score of; 11 - 5. Everyone played
really well and the kids are getting better each game.
5/3/2009 - The second grade boys Lax (Gold) team had it's
home opener today and not only had to battle a good Kings Park team,
but the elements as well. The kids played very well together and
moved the ball up and down the field with good passing. The defense
was strong once again. The Goal tending was very good and good
decisions were made when clearing the ball. Our kids won the game by
the score of: 10-3 for our second straight victory. We are very
proud of the boys and they get better by the game.
04/26/09 - The boys second grade LAX (GOLD) team won it’s
opening game this past Sunday against West Islip, and they did it in
a convincing fashion with a 12 to 5 victory. The offense won the
control game winning most of the face offs and fighting for the
ground balls. I was very impressed that a team for the first time on
a field together had good game presence. They really passed the ball
around well and were UN selfish with possession. There were times
when it was like poetry in motion. I was very impressed. The defense
caused several turnovers and in many situations, turned them into
fast breaks. This was very impressive in its self because for most
of the kids on defense, never played that position before, or played
2 games the day before in the tournament. Our goalkeeper was strong
between the pipes and for being in the net only for a few days; we
were impressed with his grasp of the position. We were proud of all
of them. The team worked hard all day and worked together. Our next
game is our home opener on Sunday May 3rd at 10:30 AM against Kings
Park. Come watch the rising stars of the east.

5/31/09
–
The 4th grade black had another great day as they rode into
Garden City and played very tough Garden City 4th grade team. After
being ahead most of the game in the first half we walked away with a
9-9 tie.
I really think we played our very best game to
date. Our offense looked awesome with most of our goals coming off 2
or more passes, some in transition and others after settling the
ball and running the offense. Leading the attack in goals were
Dillon "Mac Attack" McManus with 4 goals, Dillon "Feed em" Studdert
with 2 goals, Tyler "Locomotive Express" Parkinson with 2 goals and
Nick "Mr Hustle" Volpe with 1 goal.
Our defense is purely the best in the game with
Reed "I want to play attack" Bresky grabbing numerous ground balls
and intercepting a few passes. Nikolas "I’m TOTALLY Fearless"
Mikelinich and Christopher "Poke Check" Choinski leading the effort
with Matt "Wild Man" Touhamy, Jeffrey "I’m not sick anymore" Vasquez
and Tommy "The Terrific" Travaglione rounding out the effort.
Zach "ain’t gonna score on me dude!" Berlin was
absolutely AWESOME in net with 10 saves, some at point blank range
that kept us in the game from the first face off until the final
horn.
Our middies were all over the field today
scooping up ground balls and clearing the ball with great ease.
Leading the effort was Patch "I had a broken arm?" Dooley, Jason
"I’ll kick your butt…… fever and all" Billings, Kyle "Lighting
Speed" Bockleman, Nick "what’s baseball?" Torzilli and Dustin "Leave
‘em in the dust" McDonald.
My attack was great as well, with Noah "Smoooooooth
as Silk" Dooley and James "Micheal who?" Ciccone keeping the flow of
the offense at its best.
And of course my newly injured assistant coach
Michael "broken arm" Ciccone was there and cheered his team on.
5/16/09
- 4th grade black played a very physical Huntington squad and ended
up with a tie game with 8 goals a piece. My statistician was
missing in action again so I have no game stats to share. ALL the
boys played well and kept the game close. We were down by one goal
when Zach came up with a great save with less then a minute to
play. After a quick time out we managed to clear the ball and get a
shot off. With 12 seconds remaining in the game Ryan Doran took the
ball in back left side of the net, pushed hard toward the goal,
faked the defensemen with a quick stick move and scored the tying
goal.
Get effort by the entire team which never quit until the last horn
blew.
5/10/09 - The 4th grade black team met their match
on Mother's Day. A very solid Oyster Bay squad came into town and
handed us our 2nd loss with a final score of 7-2, OUCH!!!
I think the boys were up late the night before writing out those
Mother's Day cards and wrapping those great gifts for Mom while Dad
was no help lying fast asleep on the couch :o).
The referee was no help to us as we were plagued with penalty after
penalty which stopped us from getting into any sort of rhythm. Hats
off to Oyster Bay because they came prepared to play.
Defense did a great job as usual and Tommy T. did a fantastic job in
his debut minding the net. Patch "healed arm" Dooley was back in
action and was very involved throughout the game
5/03/09 – The 4th grade black
squad beat Port Washington 8-4, running their record to 3 Wins and 1
loss. On a nasty rainy Sunday afternoon you’ll find most kids want
to stay inside and play Playstation 3, XBOX or the Wii, unless
you’re a member of the 4th grade Hills Black Lacrosse team. These
young boys decided it would be a lot more fun to head outside where
it’s wet and cold to play a Lacrosse game. Gotta love our kids!!!
After a
tough loss to Point Lookout last week, our kids worked hard to
prepare for this battle against Port Washington. The offense looked
great as we assisted on 5 of the 8 goals and controlled time of
possession. Unfortunately we didn’t keep stats this week but our
goal scorers were Nick Volpe, Nick Torzilli, Dillon Studdert, Dillon
McManus and Tyler Parkinson.
Zach
Berlin and our defense kept us in the game with a great effort and
our midfielders were once again on the top of their game.
James
Ciccone played a great game on attack as he scooped up many ground
balls and advance to the cage on several occasions. Great Job!
4/26/09 – The 4th grade black squad came across their first
loss today against a very physical Long Beach team. Without two of
our starting players at attack and defense the team managed to keep
it close until Long Beach pulled off a 9-5 victory. Long Beach came
out strong and led the first quarter with 4 goals but we hung in
there and went toe to toe the rest of the game.
It just wasn’t our day
today and the numbers support it with today’s stats being off
compared to our first two games:
• After
averaging 35 ground balls the first two games, we only had 11 today.
• After
averaging 21 shots the first two games, we only had 9 today
• We
came into the game with a 42% shots to goals scoring percentage and
today was no different as we scored 5 goals on just 9 shots (56%).
Problem was we didn’t shoot enough.
I couldn’t be more proud of my boys as they
played a little short staffed on a hot day. Even with a tough loss
we had our few standouts: Zach Berlin was a star in net as he made 7
tremendous saves throughout the day that honestly kept us in the
game. Nick Volpe scored two goals and was our typical work horse as
he played both middy and attack. Nick Torzilli scored two goals on 2
shots. Dillon Studdert had a nice goal in transition and assisted on
another one as he fed Torzilli’s from behind the net. Dillon McManus
had two assists, hit the pipe twice and won every one of his face
offs.
Nicholas Mikelinich played goal for the first few
minutes of the game where he made a few saves, he then switched over
to defense where he led the team in ground balls with 3 and cause 3
turnovers. Ryan Tam had a few ground balls and force 3 turnovers.
Chris Choinski and Tommy Travaglione rounded off our solid defensive
squad.
Our rookie players did a great job as well. Noah
Dooley won a face off that resulted in a nice fast break.
A team is not a team without the hard work of ALL
of its players. Great job by Jason Billings, Michael Ciccone, Kyle
Bockleman, James Ciccone, Dustin McDonald, Matt Touhamy and Jeffrey
Vasquez for working hard all day.
I saw tremendous character in our boys today who
never gave up until the final horn. In my opinion the sign of a good
team is not how many wins you have but more about how well you can
bounce back after a loss. :o)
Next up……………Port Washington at Home on the Turf.
4/19/09
- The Hills 4th grade BLACK came away with another strong win
today by beating a physical Seaford team with a 6-3 victory.
Our game team stats: 35 Ground Balls, 14 shots on
goal, 4 assists and 6 goals. Some standouts today were Dillon
McManus with 3 goals on 4 shots, Anthony Cappadona with 2 goals on
2 shots and Nick Volpe with a goal. Dillon Studdert had 3 assists,
Nick Torzilli had 5 ground balls and Zach Berlin had 5 saves in net.
I can’t say enough about our defense. Ryan Tam,
Reed Bresky, Christopher Choinski, Nikolas Mikelinich and Tommy
Travaglione are by far the best 4th grade defensive squad I’ve ever
seen. They have a tremendous sense of anticipating what is about to
happen. Their covered slides are extremely timely, they effortlessly
cherry pick the ball away from the attack and they cleared the ball
well this week. Congrats to my awesome defense!
Our middies and attack did a great job as well.
We shook it up this week at practice with 2 new last minute plays
and although we didn’t have many chances to run them today; my
offense still showed some greatness with 4 of our 6 goals coming
from assists.
It seemed like Jason Billings, Michael Ciccone,
Kyle Bockelman and Tyler Parkinson were involved with every single
play as they hustled after ground balls and played great defense.
James Ciccone helped our cause by doing a great job of moving the
ball on offense and refusing to give up on ground balls that were in
our end of the field. That type of hustle results in goals!!
Our rookie middies, Noah Dooley, Dustin McDonald
and Matt Touhamy were in the mix this week. Noah won a very
important face off, took the ball into our offensive side of the
field that resulted in a goal. Great job!
And again fearless Patch "broken arm" Dooley had
to be restrained several times from running out onto the field.
Great job by all!!!!

4/5/09 - The Hills 4th grade BLACK team
started their 2009 season with a 12-6 victory over Huntington
Village. What’s great about our youth program is that every year we
see many new faces who work hard all week in preparation for our
Sunday games. This year is no different as we saw Dustin McDonald,
rookie lacrosse player score our very first goal of the 2009 season.
Another new player, Kyle Bockleman scored two goals followed by
goals from our veteran players Michael "Mad Man" Ciccone, Nick
Volpe, Tyler Parkinson, Anthony Cappadana, Nick Torizilli and Jason
Billings. Dillon McManus, Noah Dooley and Jeffrey Vazquez rounded
out our excellent midfielders scooping up numerous ground balls and
completing great passes to ensure a consistent flow of our offense.
Anthony Cappadanna, Dillon Studdert, Nick Torzilli and James Ciccone
ran our Attack as smooth as silk. Their quick thinking and crisp
passing in transition made for some very nice plays. Our defense
lead by Reed Bresky, Chris Choinski, Nick Mickelinich and Thomas
Travaglione was outstanding causing all sorts of havoc for the
Huntington Attack by forcing turnovers, initiating our fast breaks
and clearing the ball to our offensive end of the field. Let’s not
forget our fearless Patch "broken arm" Dooley. I had to restrain
Patch several times from running out onto the field……cast and all.
Great job by all !!!!

4th Grade Red
Team
6/7/10 - The Hills 4th grade team lost another battle this
weekend to Bayville by the score of 11-9. A big thanks to Connor C
for stepping in the goal and keeping us in the game. Sean Gorman had
a nice goal on the crease for his 2nd of the season. "Ry Dog" kept
up his hot goal scoring string by throwing in another 4 and tying
Matty T for the team lead with 19 total goals. Cole Montalvo
continues to show great improvemnt each week with another assist to
Matty on a nice cross feed. Sean Lulley is showing why he is the
best middie on the field at all times with an astounding 6 assist
game ( no I in team ). Kyle Tiernan is the ground ball king gobbling
up 7 more to add to the team leading 34. A big welcome back to Joe
Sanfratello, playing in his first game coming back from the IR.
Jensen Corabi is getting into the scoring mix with a nice one timer
from 10 yards out, and alexander Filacouris continues to be
everywhere on the field when running middie. Our last game is Sunday
at Farmingdale 5:00.
5/31/09 - The Hills 4th grade red team took on another
Manhasset team this week and came away with a 9-4 victory. Charlie
was the man in goal making 15 ( that's right 15) saves and throwing
darts to his middies. The "D " came up big when they had to with
some great plays from Branson Leifer ( super clear to the middies)
Jared Leff and Mikko Sims. Causing all sorts of havoc with ground
balls was Ramsey Lewis while also keeping his man at bay.The glue of
the D is 2nd year player Jeremy Shuster who is learning the game at
a rapid pace. The middies ran the other team around with a few
noticeable plays from 1st year player Cole Montalvo, high fives from
all the coaches! Can't say enough about the other mids, Filacouris,
Ryan and Breakstone scooped up numerous ground balls and kept the
opponent from shooting up close on Charlie. The scoring came from
the big guns of Ry Dog with 3 goals, 3 assists and 6 ground balls,
Mule' with 2 goals, 2 assists and 5 ground balls, Lulley with 2
goals 2 assists and 5 ground balls, and Tufano with 2 goals - 2
assists. Leading the day in ground balls was Tiernan with 7, while
Jake McDermott and Sean Gorman picked up 2 of their own. Defensive
MVP goes to Charlie the stopper, and offensive to "top corner"
Doran. Play of the day goes to Cole M
5/16/09- The Hills 4th grade red team beat a very talented
West Islip team 10-9 bringing their record to 4-2. This weeks win
came from an outstanding effort from the offense lead by Sean Lulley
who had 2 goals, 2 assists, 4 face off wins, and an amazing 12
ground balls. Helping Sean out was "Ry dog" with 2 goals, Matty T
with 2, and Sean G, KT, Jenson, and Jared B each with a goal. KT
also had 5 face off wins and 8 ground balls to go with his goal.
Jake M had his first ground ball of the year!
5/10/09- The Hills 4th grade red team treated their mom's to
a victory over Manhasset by the score of 9-6. Players of the day
awards went to Branson Leifer with best "D" man and "Ry Dog" with
best "O" man. Branson led a tough defense that constantly pushed the
offense out of the scoring zone and kept the crease area cleared for
Charlie ( 9 big saves). Ryan led the potent offense with 3 goals and
3 assists. Adding to that was Sean L with 3/1 Jared B with another 2
and K T and Matty T with 1 each. Alexander led the team with 4
groundballs followed by Kt and Ry dog with 3 each. Jared B also
caused 3 def turnovers. Great team "D" and "O. The teams record
stands at 3-2.
5/03/09 - The Hills 4th grade red team played a team mirrored
to theirs; West Islip, but came away with a 13-6 victory. The
differenace in the game was the teams outstanding defense as was
noted by the opposing coach and both refs. The "D" started with
charlie making 9 saves, many of them acrobatic with pinpoint clears
to the middies. The guys in front of Charlie were stellar! Mikko,
Jeremy, Branson, jared L, and Cole played the best D we have seen
this and last year. They were the reason for the "W". We also had
great team offense with 12 of the 13 goals coming on pass plays.
Leading the way were Matty T (this seems like a weekly thing)with 4
goals, Ryan Doran running the offense on all cylinders with 2 goals
and 4 assists, Kyle Tiernan 2 goals and 2 assists, Jared B with 2
goals and 4 face-off wins, Sean Lulley with 2 goals and 1 assist,
and Cam with 1 goal 1 assist and hard work in the trenches. Not to
be forgotten with their tireless effort on "D" and "O" were Jake
A,and Alexander. Sean G chipped in with 3 ground balls and Jared M
had 1 of his own. Nice Team win!
4/29/09 - The 4th grade red team suffered their 2nd loss of
the season against a combined CSH team with a score of 13-10. The
kids played an excellent game leading most of the way before CSH
tied it at 9 and eventually pulled away as our boys wilted in the
heat. The Hills gang played team lacrosse scoring all their goals on
pass plays while CSH used 1v1 to score 10 of their goals. The team
never gave up and showed the "correct way" to play lacrosse.
Highlights of the day were from Charlie "the rock" in goal with 9
saves, Sean Gorman with his first goal on a nice pass play from Cam
Mule', and Matty T throwing in 4 goals while adding an assist. Cam,
Kyle and Sean were tremendous on face-offs beating one of the top
kids in the age group 75% of the time.
4/19/09- The 4th grade red team played to their best ability
but lost to an "all-star team" from Smithtown 12-7. The Hills team
with a combination of 11 new/1 year players never gave up and made
the coaches extremely proud. Our defense ( Smithtown averages 20
goals per game) was stellar with Jeremy ( 3 forced turnovers),
Danny, Joe,and Cole, keeping the opponents offense at bay. Charlie
was his usual in goal, making 6 key saves while scrambling for a few
groundballs of his own. The offense was lead by Sean lulley with 3
goals, Matt T 2, and Kyle Tiernan having 3 assists while showing
excellent ball handling skills. The entire team should be proud of
themselves because the coaches are! This was definitely a "Good
Loss"!
4/5/09- The Hills 4th grade red team started their 2009
season with a 9-6 victory over a big, physical Wantagh team. Many
new faces stepped on the field for the first time in a game and
hopefully came away having fun. We would like to welcome Cole
Montalvo, Jarred Moris, Jake Mcdermott, Ramsey Lewis, and Jake
Ashkinos to the Club. Leading the way was Ryan Doran with 3 goals 2
assists, Matty T with 2 goals, Sean Lulley 2 goals 3 assists, and
Kyle Tiernan with 1 goal. Jensen Corabi was a menace on face-offs
winning everyone as was Lulley. Strong middle play was evident all
day with the likes of Jared Breakstone, Mikko Sims, Alexander
Filacouris ( 2 assists), Sean Gorman and Jared Leff, devouring
ground balls and harassing players on the defensive end. The "D" was
strong ( we had to be with 10 penalties) with Joe Sanfratello, and
Jeremy Shuster, leading the way. Player of the day goes to Charlie
Ricottoni who had 7 saves in the cage and kept us in the game early
on. Special thanks to Branson Leifer showing up hurt but supporting
the team.

4/25/2009 Hills 14 – Farmingdale 6 -This
Farmingdale team is chock full of athletes. The Hills team has a lot
of athletic talent too. The Hills method of playing as a team and
moving the ball was the difference. This group plays as a team.
Jennifer Casadonte, our best player, had nine ground balls. On some
teams, that means nine shots on goals. Jennifer and Mia both scored
3 goals a piece. They were joined by Casie (2), Veronica, Mackenzie,
Danielle, Nicole Goldberg and Alexa Valla. Alexa plays defense for
us; her goal was coast to coast and was a beautiful play. Ground
balls stats were lopsided. Theses kids has two or more GB’s and just
abpoout everybody had one: Jennifer (7) Mia (3), Marisa (3) Sopia
Geringswald (2), Alexis Toles (3), Mary Reiser (2) Paige Gladstone
(3), Alexa Valla (3) and Ally Anton (3). Kristen Knipfing had her
best game of the year. Her hard work in practice is really working
for her especially on "the clears."
4/12/09 Hills 14 –
Huntington 9 - The concern going into this game was the fact that we
were missing 5 key players. The Hills team is has a lot of depth and
the smaller squad just meant more playing time for others. There
were many standout players in the game: Lulley, Toles, Inserra,
Valla, Ferber, Gladstone, Travis and Koval until her thumb swelled
up. Casie Caiazza had one of her best games .
4/5/09 Hills 9 – Levittown 9 - This was
about as an exciting game as we will see this year. Hills was up by
four goals in the first half and watch the game slip away. With four
minutes left to play, Hills was down for the first time in the game.
Ally Anton tied it up with two minutes left. For the last two
minutes Hills applied a tremendous amount of pressure and time ran
out. Ground ball are always a factor in the game, the following kids
had multiple pick ups: Jenn Casadonte (7), Mia Inserra (3),
Mackenzie Kober (3) Marisa Ferber (4) Veronica Muratore (3). The
goals came from several sources. Emily Travis had two goals and one
of them was rather unique. Emily is really developing as a player
and is one of the best kids in the league when it comes to marking a
player. In this one play, the goalie came out and Emily was riding
her. She took the offensive charge and then was able to have a free
shot from about 30 yards out on an empty net. It will be the longest
goal we see this year. The other goal scorers were Jen, Mia,
Danielle Lully, Casie Caiazza, Melissa Melone and Alexis Toles
.

5/10/09- The 8th grade girls team suffered
one of the teams most heartbreaking loses ( the few they have had)on
Mother's Day losing to Garden City 9-8. Leading the team everyone
loves to beat 8-5 with under 3 minutes to go, the wheels fell off
and GC scored 4 unanswered goals to steal the victory. Hats off to "Fooch"
and Julia D with outstanding efforts.
5/2/09 - The Hills 8th grade girls team
demolished Rockville centre 18-9 on a misty Saturday night. Great
team effort, rumor has it Cara cracked the goalies helmet. Their
record stands at 5-1
4/26/09 - The Hills 8th grade team steam rolled the only
oppenent to beat them in 4 years of league play, avenging a playoff
loss to CSH last year with a dominating 13- 7 victory. The girls
played one of their best games since they started league
play, controlling the game in every aspect. The entire club receives
a "job well done", a few standouts were Rock in the goal, Cara
throwing in 4 goals, Julia with 9 ground balls, and the entire
defense shutting down their offens. Nice Win!
4/19/09 -The Hills 8th grade girls team lost 13-10 to
Harbor fields on Sunday. Trailing 6-1 the girls never gave up and
eventually took the lead 9-8 in the 2nd half but could not sustain
the effort which lead to the final outcome. Great effort for those
on the field!
4/04/09- The Hills 8th grade girls team
followed their undefeated indoor championship with 2 victories,
beating Rockville Centre 16-3 and Massapequa 8-3.
